Rex and Mary Beth Wordelman, Lubbock, Texas, dropped by the office of the Fulda Free Press on Thursday afternoon, interested in finding a schedule of events for the 2018 Fulda Wood Duck Festival. They were excited to be in town for the festivities.
The couple moved away from Fulda thirty years ago, but still have many ties to the community. While living in Fulda, Rex and Mary Beth were very involved in the community.
Rex was instrumental in starting Maple Lawn Senior Care Center. In August of 1961, the Fulda Area Nursing Home Development Association was formed by a group of interested citizens. Rex was the chairman of the group. Original incorporators of Maple Lawn Nursing Home were A. F. Gertjejansen, President; Rex Wordelman, Vice President; Edwin Balt, Secretary; and J. M. Hanson, Treasurer; H. C. Hason, John Buschena, H. V. Brandt, and E. O. Reusse.
