Plans are underway for an All School Reunion and 100th Anniversary Celebration in Round Lake. The majority of events are scheduled for Saturday, August 22, and some will also be held Friday evening and Sunday morning activities.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the first graduating class from Round Lake High School.
According to the Round Lake 1982 centennial book, “A Railroad Station Becomes a Town,” there was not a high school in Round Lake until 1916. School went through eighth grade, and those who wanted a higher education would board with a family in Worthington and attend school there.
“In 1916, the school board decided to have a full high school at Round Lake and began adding one more year each year until the first graduating class was in 1920.”
