Ryanna Schreier, Brealyn Damm finish 1-2 in JV race; Lily Daniels wins junior high event again

The Warriors ran a total of 18 girls at Olivia, running five in the junior varsity or JV race and six in the junior high event, in addition to the seven varsity competitors.

Sophomore Ryanna Schreier (first, 22:51.45) and eighth-grader Brealyn Damm (second, 23:01.21) gave MCC/F an impressive 1-2 performance in the JV event, while sophomore Chelby Keesteloot (fifth, 24:46.49), freshman Megan Bakke (11th, 26:33.24) and sophomore Meline Dernoncourt (16th, 27:44.05) also each competed well and produced a second-place score of 31 points (team places 1-2-5-11-12), just three points behind Redwood Valley’s winning total of 28 (3-4-6-7-8).

The Warriors won the junior high girls’ team championship with 21 points (1-3-4-5-8), outrunning second-place Paynesville’s score of 36 (2-6-7-10-11) by 15 points.

Eighth-grader Lily Daniels won her second consecutive race (she also won at Slayton on September 24), completing the 2,500-meter (2.1 miles) course in 11:22.53, finishing first by six seconds.

Eighth-grader Lindsey Hause (sixth overall, third team scoring, 12:02.44), seventh-grader Courtney Gengler (seventh, four points, 12:10.06), eighth-grader Jayda Hellewell (ninth, five, 12:20.28), eighth-grader Molly Clarke (17, eight, 14:14.91) and seventh-grader Sophia Nelson (18, nine, 14:30.41) were the other contributing members for the first-place MCC/F team.

The Warriors will host the Red Rock Conference Meet at the Slayton Country Club next Monday, October 14.
