The Fulda/Murray County Central Warrior wrestling team opened up their individual competition last Friday night. The 3AA tournament was held in New Ulm. Warrior Ryder Henning was the only wrestler to nab any hardware earning a sixth place medal in the competition.
At 106 pounds Landen Like-Bonnstetter earned a bye in round 1. He faced office with Dylan Louwagie of Marshall in the second round where he was caught and pinned in 28 seconds. He moved on into the consolation bracket were Bonnstetter was pinned by Isaiah Reismer of New Ulm in 38 seconds thus eliminating him from competition.
At 152 Christian Kuball did battle with Gideon Joos of Mahaca. Kuball battled well however was caught at 4:30 for the pin. Kuball received a bye his next round. Dalton Desollar of Luverne was Kuball’s next competitor. The match went all three periods with each going back and forth before Desollar earned the points to finish with the 13-10 decision eliminating Kuball from the tournament.
Wrestling at 160 pounds, Ryder Henning earned a bye his first round of the tournament. He faced off with Grant Louwagie of Marshall in the second round with Louwagie earning the fall at :53. In the consolation bracket Henning had a bye. On Saturday Henning’s round four competitor was Avery Hermel of New Ulm. Henning got busy right away and came away with six points as a result of the tech fall at 4:13. Round 5 was Henning against Layton Wittnebel (DBLQ) with Wittnebel gaining the fall at :20. For the fifth and sixth place medal, Henning was pitted against Brayden Reynolds (RRV) who finished off Henning’s season with the fall at :36.
At 170 pounds Keigan Behnke drew Thomas Lais of Worthington in his first round. Lais earned a tech fall at 4:00. Behnke had a bye in his second round. His final round was against Jacob Boots (Mahaca) who went on to earn a tech fall at 4:12.
The last Warrior in competition was Koyer Wendorff at 195 pounds. He drew a bye the first round and then was pitted against Mason Rummel (RRV) in the his second round where Rummel came away with the pin in :12. Wendorff had a bye his next round before he faced Garrett Myren of Fairmont. Wendorff was caught early for the pin thus ending his wrestling season.
