Gabe Spittle scores 27 points, wins pole vault at Slayton
Senior all-around athlete Gabe Spittle had quite a day at the Murray County Central Early Bird high school track and field meet on a windy day at Slayton last Tuesday, April 2.
Spittle placed in four events and racked up a total of 27 points as he won the pole vault (10-0), finished second in the 200-meter dash (25.72), placed fourth in the 400 (59.70) and ran a fifth-place time of 12.57 in the 100.
The meet was scored 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 for the top eight places. No relays were run in the meet, which also did not have either the 300-meter intermediate hurdles or the 3,200-meter run.
Worthington utilized its superior depth in the unlimited entry meet to rack up 207.42 points, while Windom (67.78) was second, followed by Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda (third with 60.14 points), Murray County Central (54.5), Wabasso (53.64) and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (15).
