Sewer problems discovered on Baltimore Avenue

The Fulda City Council met on October 1 for their regular meeting. They voted for next years budget to not exceed a 6% increase decided at previous meetings. That increase can be lowered but not increased. A fire hall meeting is planned for late November.

Discussion was held with the Bondin Township Board over the maintenance of South Lafayette Avenue to the boat landing on the south end of the South Lake. The city has provided $2,280 worth of gravel this year plus hired the grading of the road. The agreement was made when the city had a grader. The plan will be to be responsible for the grading and snow plowing but no gravel. Discussions will continue.

Sewer problems on north Baltimore Avenue appear to be severe, pushing repairs sooner than the planned project is scheduled. The sanitary sewer is collapsed 37 feet into the 553 foot line. Deteriorated concrete tile is the blame for the problem and several blocks are affected. Several options are available including open ditch replacement or pipe bursting which offers less destruction of street. Cost are not available until the extent of the problem is known.

A public hearing will be held on vacating the alley on the east end of Davis Street. The Hearing will take  place November 5th at 6 p.m. prior to the regular monthly meeting.

Building permits were approved for Adam Wallace for a new deck, Matt Witzel for two new houses, and Teresa Peterson for building open porch over steps. The next regular meeting will be November 5 at 6:30 PM.
