Shaina Leinen has been hired by Greater Minnesota Family Services to provide intervention and prevention services at Fulda Elementary School.
Leinen is a 2011 graduate of Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Milwaukee, WI. She attended Winona State University, graduating 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She is a licensed social worker in the state of Minnesota.
During college, Leinen received a grant through the Title IV-E Child Welfare Education Program. By accepting that grant, she also agreed to accept the first position in child protection offered to her through applications to agencies who work in child protection, adoption or foster care. “I submitted applications in 13 states and moved to Worthington to work as a Child Protection Social Worker,” Leinen offered. “I worked in that capacity for 13 months and then accepted employment with Red Rock Ridge Learning Center, Setting IV in Windom.”
With three small children at home, Leinen needed to look for a position that would allow more quality family time. “I called Superintendent Loy Woelber and asked if there was a need for a Setting IV Social Worker at Fulda Schools, and he immediately said yes,” Leinen explained. “Then I called Greater Minnesota Family Services and talked with them about the need for an interventionist and preventionist with Fulda Schools, and they hired me to work with students in the Fulda Elementary School.”
