Murray County Central will be showcasing the new gymnasium space on January 3rd and 4th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. “We are excited to share what this space will look like when it’s in use,” said MCC Superintendent Joe Meyer.
Busy it will be. On Thursday viewers will have a chance to see how the space can accommodate a practice session for the boys basketball team from 3:30-5:00 p.m. The junior high girls basketball squad will host Pipestone on the other side from 4:30-7:00 p.m. In the meantime the competition gym the MCC girls will face off with Russell-Tyler-Ruthton with C-squad slated to start at 5:00 p.m.
Friday’s activities will kickoff with girls’ basketball practice in the new gymnasium from 3:30-6:00 p.m. In the new commons area between the two gyms the Murray County Early Childhood Initiative will host a F.R.E.D. event at 6:00 p.m. Meanwhile the boys’ basketball teams will tangle with Southwest Minnesota Christian with C-squad game scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. In addition, the music boosters will be having a burger feed in the new concessions (commons) area.
The process started over two years ago, shared Meyer. What has for many years been a wish and now a necessity, the gymnasium will help fill the district’s educational and extracurricular and community needs.
