Competing in the rescheduled Red Rock Conference junior high track and field meet at Slayton two weeks ago on Monday, May 22, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda girls utilized a pair of blue-ribbon finishes, along with five red-ribbon performances, to rack up enough points to claim second place in the team standings.
The meet was originally scheduled to be run off at Slayton 11 days earlier on Friday, May 11. But cold and wet weather conditions made for a nasty day and the event was postponed until a later date. Because of the new date, three conference teams — Adrian, Ellsworth and Hills-Beaver Creek — were unable to compete in the girls’ division.
HL-O / Fulda racked up 122 points in the meet, finishing as the girls’ team runner-up behind Southwest Minnesota Christian / Edgerton (164). Murray County Central was a close third with 110 points, followed by Westbrook-Walnut Grove / Red Rock Central (75) and Mountain Lake Area (54).
