Monday evenings Fulda High School choir concert was performed under the them of “Striving for Love, Across the Waters”. Under the direction of Matt Saxman, the concert was opened by the senior high choir band with the song Pompeii, as recorded by Bastille.
A medley of several songs from High School Musical of 2005 was performed next by the choir.
“Homeward Bound” was sung by the upperclass girls. This piece was written by Marta Keen and arranged by Jay Althouse.
Underclass girls sang the popular “My Heart Will Go On”, which is the love theme from the 1997 film Titannic.
Featured next on the program was the Men’s Chorus who sang Jeff Lynne’s “Free Fallin’”. The piece was recorded by Tom Petty.
Raider Serenaders performed “You and I” which was recorded by Lady Gaga.
Students Rachael Ethridge, Emma Wehking, Frances Piper, Mikala Dierks, Breanna Golda, and Megan Boots were featured in a vocal ensemble and performed “The Climb” from Hannah Montana: The movie, 2009.
Dora Rodriguez sang a vocal solo entitled “Following the Drinking Gourd”. This song is a spiritual that was arranged for performance by Jay Althouse.
“All Star”, “Red River Valley”, and “When I Close My Eyes” were the songs performed by the Junior High Choir.
Bringing the 2018 spring choral concert to a close was the Senior High Choir as they sang “Shenandoah”, “Hold Me, Rock Me”, and “Wade in the Water”.
Senior choir members were recognized by Mr. Saxman. This year’s graduating seniors are Camryn Baumhoefner, Cobie Engbarth, Caelyn Haeg, Kaitlyn VandenBosch, Amber Breuker, Allison Kenney, Camille Paulzine, Lynneigh Vrooman, Tayler Warborg, Aldo Cardenas, Eli Gonzalez, Noah Salentiny, and Dalton Slinger.
Awarded the National Choral Award was senior Camryn Baumhoefner.
Rachael Ethridge was the recipient of this year’s Director’s Award.
Student musicians vote upon who receives the National Choral Award and the Director’s Award.
