Students and Staff from St. Paul’s Lutheran School celebrate National Lutheran Schools Week

St. Paul’s Lutheran School joins 2029 other Lutheran Schools throughout the United States in celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week. Each school is given suggestions and ideas for each day of the week but it is up to the individual schools to decide how they will honor the week.

Sunday, January 21st, kicked off the week at church with the students singing during Sunday worship and enjoying a pulled-pork meal with their family and friends served by the board of eduction after the service.

But for Fulda students, the week began a few days earlier when they wrote ‘Letters to the Editor’ to be published in the Fulda Free Press as to why they like to attend St. Paul’s Lutheran School. An interesting read…be sure to take a look.

Dress up days were a highlight for t the students;

•Monday was animal day (however was snowed out);

•Tuesday was summer attire day (several students were seen in shorts and goggles while at least one teacher came in her swimwear!);

•Wednesday was sports attire day (with the students enjoying a trip to the Slayton bowling alley for an afternoon of sporting fun);

•Thursday was crazy, mismatched day;

•Friday was Grandparents Day.

Grandparents day is always a special time for the students who love to give their grandparents a tour of their classrooms at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. Students in fifth and sixth grade put their grandparents to the test – a spelling test and a math test! Third and fourth graders read their favorite books to the grandparents. In the first and second grade room the students showed their talents at counting money and cutting snowflakes. And the PreK and K room made family trees by painting their grandparents hands and placing them on the paper. They also taught them some awesome dance moves to some cool songs.

The grandparents then move to St. Paul’s Church were they enjoy refreshments and fellowship while students prepared for the program they plan to present.

The day ends with the students enjoying lunch with their grandparents before getting the rest of the day off.

Topping off the week is the Scholastic Book Fair which is set up for students to show both their grandparents and their parents and with any luck go home with something new to read.

St. Paul’s Lutheran School  is a great place to get an education. It offers – a strong fundamental education for students in grades pre-school through 6th grade; small class sizes with individual attention give to each child; wonderfully qualified teachers working hand-in-hand with strong parental involvement; and the understanding of a faith filled community.
