Eighteen students recently completed their Firearms Safety Training, passing both the written and field test.
Instructors for Firearms Safety Training are Marv Isder, Jason Renneke, Luke Isder, Dale Fischer, Don Rolph and Pastor Shawn Ethridge. The classes met on Saturday mornings from late February to early April, covering topics that include hunting’s image, outdoor ethics, firearms actions, ammunition types, hunting regulations, conservation of natural resources, safe zones of fire, survival in the wilderness, tree stand safety and related issues. The course is taught with video and PowerPoint presentations and allows for the students to have ample opportunities to ask questions and make comments.
During the course, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer, Jim Robinson, Slayton, MN, shares information regarding hunting safety, ethics, and regulations.
