Susan Olson has joined the family of Murray County Medical Center as their new certified physician assistant.
Olson hails from Wessington Springs, South Dakota. Following graduation, Olson moved on to obtain her licensed practical nursing and then gained her registered nurse licensure. After working in that capacity, Olson ventured further into the medical field and began study in North Dakota to become a certified nurse practitioner which translates into a physician assistant certified in Minnesota. She graduated in 1983 from Grand Forks.
Olson has spent thirty-four years as a certified nurse practitioner and physician assistant of which 30 of those years were in rural medicine.
Olson was fortunate to earn a stipend for her medical studies through a local clinic. Following graduation in 1983, she spent approximately six years working in the rural clinic. Following this stint, the Mitchell, SD. asked Olson to start a clinic in Holland and began practicing there in 1988. She also practiced internal medicine in Huron, SD. along with two years of college health at South Dakota State University along with occupational health.
