Getting scoring contributions from lots of players, the Heron Lake-Okabena / Fulda B-Squad girls’ basketball team put up plenty of points last week, but were defeated by a pair of good teams in two games last week.
Both games featured high-scoring action as Southwest Minnesota Christian claimed a 59-33 over the Coyotes Thursday (December 12) at Edgerton and Luverne posted a 51-28 victory at Okabena the next night on Friday, the 13th.
SW Christian earned a 30-18 halftime lead and Luverne was up by 14 points (29-15) at the intermission break.
Eight Coyotes scored against the Eagles as Kalli Johnson (nine) and Skylar Fisher (seven) combined for 16 points. Faith White (five), Taryn Evers (four), Claire Reith (three), Taylor Haberman (two), Elise Rostomily (two) and Addison Fisher (one) also scored in the game at Southwest Christian’s gymnasium.
White made five free throws in the game and Johnson sank a trio of shots from the line.
In the game at Okabena, seven players contributed to HLOF’s scoring. White scored nine points to lead the Coyotes, while Skylar Fisher (six) and Reith (five) combined for 11 points. Four players — Tara Tuin, Anna Fest, Johnson and Evers — each scored two points for HLOF.
