The Stapek Clan in STAYHOMEMN self-quarantine

Editor’s note: Troy and Elizabeth Stapek live on a farm near Fulda, MN. Troy is an avid photographer and artist. The children attend Fulda Public Schools. The family cheerfully agreed to share with Fulda Free Press readers how the Stapek Clan is spending their time during the COVID-19 STAYHOMEMN Order.  This look into their day, and their family life, gives the perspective of how the family is coping with day-to-day living as they await the day when the COVID-19 pandemic’s status will allow for time to be spent at their places of work and in school. In the meantime, the family is enjoying one another’s company and working together to keep their home happy and their studies current.  They have learned that the balance is spending time together, working together, playing together and pursuing individual activities that bring the joy everyone needs to find in living life one day at a time.

“Good Morning – Good Morning – where are you all? Time to be up… time to be awake, the animals want food. Get up! Are you awake up there?  I, Troy, am a morning person and I start the day…sometimes in song – to whatever tune I think of – just to start the house going.  I add wood to the fire, start coffee, (We were told that after having the second child you will like coffee.  And yes, we like coffee!) then on to breakfast, with more singing (not in tune) and just random thoughts of craziness…anything goes! As they come down the stairs, I start to cheer at times – like a sports announcer.”

The Stapek Clan day starts this way every morning. During the STAYHOMEMN Order, it starts a bit later. At this time everyone is at home.  The kids do chores and visit the animals and I make breakfast.  The kids help with lunch.  Dishes take a rotation and I wash in-between things that the kids put away.  Ella likes to keep us stocked up with cookies and sometimes other fun goodies.  Lukas is in charge of cutting wood for others for project needs.  Ella did some sayings for the Baby’s room wall.  Baby is in charge of disruption of mom’s sleep, and getting ready to come out and meet us next month.  Everyone has their laundry days as it helps to keep everyone’s clothes separated.
