Declared the overall 1st place winner as the final votes were counted were “The Three Little Pigs”!
These three little pigs just happen to be pumpkins – painted pink – including a papa pig, a mama pig and a baby pig. Their “calling card” was bejeweled with purple jewels.
This was the winning entry in Maple Lawn Senior Care Center’s Pumpkin Decorating Contest which was held on Wednesday, October 31st. All entries for the contest were submitted by staff members and voted upon by residents and staff.
In staff voting, the three little pigs, submitted by Therapy Department staff members Lisa Huerkamp, Jan Cuperus, and Sandy Holinka, earned first place and a witch, submitted by Lyn Ramerth earned second place. With a green head and the stem of the pumpkin used as the nose, the witch wore orange hair, a black with orange banded witch’s hat, green and black striped leggings and pointed black heels.
In resident voting, the three little pigs and the witch tied for first place, with The Who’s (entry number ten), submitted by Donna Bertamus, Erica Weaver and Mavis Schipper, earning second place.
