Excitement reverberated through the air as the Fulda Elementary School kindergarten students dressed up in their carefully chosen Halloween costumes, and climbed the stairs on the big yellow school bus for a short ride to Maple Lawn Senior Care Center.
They were greeted at Mapleview Estates by Housing Manager, Brittany Perish, who had special trick or treat bags awaiting the students. “Take a bag off the table and then we will begin our trick or treating!” she cheerfully instructed.
With big smiles (and some trepidation) the youngsters begin their trek through a half-circle of Mapleview Estates residents who were well-prepared for the students visit. They had been instructed to give “just one piece” of candy per child.
From that trick or treat space, the students moved on through the hallway to Maple Lawn Senior Care where they found residents dressed up for Halloween, as well. With giggles and thank you’s, the students again made their way through, collecting one piece of candy for each of their bags.
They then walked to Maplewood Court where again, they found residents waiting for them with candy for their bags! “This is great fun!” one little boy exclaimed in excitement! “And look, they dressed up, too, but I don’t know who they are!”
