On Wednesday, June 6, the Second District of the American Legion and Auxiliary hosted an outing for veterans on the shores of Round Lake.
Residents from the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne were invited to a day of fun, and many were transported to Round Lake by the Veterans Home. Upon arrival, volunteers helped the residents onto pontoons to cruise around the lake for about an hour, enjoying the sights and relaxing.
A few of the Veterans Home residents remained on the shore at Eastside Acres campground, taking the opportunity to do a little fishing or just enjoying the beautiful weather that day.
A picnic lunch was prepared, as volunteers from the posts and units of the Second District brought salads and desserts to enjoy. These were served along with hamburgers and hot dogs which were grilled by Bill Brunk.
