Maverick Beckmann has been Murray County Central / Fulda’s lead varsity boy in all four of the team’s high school cross country meets this season.
Beckmann, a junior, ran one of his best races at Marshall’s Independence Park last Tuesday (September 10), placing 11th — among a total of 59 finishers — with a 5,000-meter time of 19:11.7. Beckmann was also the lead Warrior at Worthington’s Turkey Trot Thursday (September 12) at Prairie View, placing 24th (out of 133 finishers) with a time of 18:49.0 as he splashed through a few puddles on a soft course after two nights of pouring rain.
Senior Lukas Stapek has improved his time in each meet this fall and was MCC / F’s third runner at Marshall (19th, 19:35.8) and the team’s second finisher at Worthington (25th, 18:49.8), coming in right behind Beckmann.
Senior Justin Clarke was sidelined with an injury during the Warriors’ first two meets and sat out again at Prairie View, after competing at Independence Park. Clarke was MCC / F’s second man — between Beckmann and Stapek — placing 17th with a time of 19:33.3.
Clarke helped the Warriors claim a sixth-place team finish, out of 11, at Marshall (113 points on team places 11-17-19-26-40), while MCC / F was eighth at Worthington (out of 12 teams) without him. The Warriors (23-24-41-51-52) had a score of 191 Thursday.
