Warriors fall in team competition tournament

It’s tournament time and the Warriors were in action in Worthington this past Saturday for the Section 3AA team tournament. The opening competition was set to take place the previous Thursday, however, weather forced the tournament to be postponed and was conducted on Saturday.

In the Warrior opening round Fulda/Murray County Central faced off with #4 seeded Luverne at 11:00 a.m.

Wrestling at 106 pounds Landen Like-Bonnstetter held off Noah Mehlhaff (Luverne) til 1:41 when he was caught earning the Cardinals six points. The next six weights were forfeited with both teams having forfeits at 138 and 145.

At 152 Christian Kuball (F/MCC) was on the mat with Zach Bradley. Doing his best to hold off Bradley, Kuball was put on his back for the pin at 1:09.

Ryder Henning (F/MCC), 160, headed to the mat to do battle with Dalton DeSollar. Henning, however, came up on the losing end of match with DeSollar gaining the pin at 1:18.

Keigan Behnke (F/MCC), 170 pounds, was into the match for 32 seconds when Jed Dooyeman found an opening and put him down for the pin.

Koyer Wendorff (F/MCC) earning the only points for the Warrior with a forfeit at 195.

Luverne claimed the 48-6 victory over the Warrior crew thus eliminating them from team tournament competition.

They will begin individual wrestling competition this Friday and Saturday in New Ulm.
